Tenancy process: what tenants see
Complete your account details (booking form), await approval if needed, sign the agreement, pay the deposit, and complete your application.
When you have a pending e-lease, you are asked to complete your application in the tenant portal. Open the incomplete tenancy and follow the stepper through these stages.
1. Complete your account details (booking form)
You must fill in and submit the booking form. This includes:
- Personal details (name, contact, etc.)
- Employment details
- Emergency contact
- How to rent (if shown for your country)
- References (employer, guarantor, previous landlord as required)
- Address details
- Student details (if applicable)
- Documents: ID, proof of address (e.g. UK), and any other required uploads
- Property and compliance documents: read compliance docs (e.g. EPC, gas safety) and other documents attached to the property
Click Save & Continue to submit. On success:
- Your application moves to the next stage (document signing).
- The landlord or agency may receive a notification that the booking form is complete.
- If they require approval before you can sign, you will then see Awaiting approval and cannot continue until they approve.
2. Awaiting approval (if required)
If the landlord or agency requires approval before you can sign:
- After you submit the booking form, you see “Awaiting approval”.
- They review your application (and referencing, if used) and approve from their dashboard.
- Once approved, you receive an email with a link to sign the agreement and the next step (document signing) is unlocked.
- Until then, you can use Refresh to check status; the next step remains blocked.
3. Document signing
- Open Document signing in the stepper.
- Sign the tenancy agreement via the link in your email or in-app (Docuseal).
- When signing is complete, your application moves to the deposit payment step (if a deposit is required).
4. Deposit payment
- If the landlord has payments enabled, your country is supported (e.g. Plaid), and the deposit amount is greater than zero, you see the Deposit payment step.
- Complete the deposit payment as shown. When it is recorded, the step is complete.
5. Summary and completion
- Review the Summary step and click Complete application.
- Your rental process is marked complete and you are redirected to the portal home with full access.
